Flossing, a fundamental part of daily oral hygiene operations, allows you to remove plaque and food debris between tooth and tooth, helping to prevent some of the most common oral diseases. Interdental spaces make up 35% of the entire tooth structure.
HOW TO USE THE FLOSS
- Roll the floss between the middle finger of your right and left hand and guide it between your teeth using your thumb and forefinger.
- Once inserted into the space between two teeth, wrap the floss around the first tooth, “rubbing” the interdental surface 3 or 4 times.
- The same procedure is then performed on the surface of the adjacent tooth.
In order to make the interdental cleaning operations easier, the alternative to the floss is the interdental arch, an instrument consisting of a floss already mounted on the top of a arch.
To use it correctly, insert the floss part in the space between two teeth, applying a slight pressure. Then move the floss towards the surface of one of the two teeth and “rub” it in for at least 3 or 4 times. Then repeat the operation on the other tooth.
